Ethiopians for Ethiopians-Ethiopia (EFEE) is an indigenous, non-governmental, humanitarian and non-profit making organization founded by five positive-minded Ethiopians (two of whom were visually impaired). The founders had the aim of making their contribution to the well-being of poor and marginalized sections of Ethiopian society, including people with physical disability.
EFEE was officially recognized by the Federal Ministry of Justice of Ethiopia in the year 2004 and is directly accountable to the Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission of Ethiopia (DPPC).
"Do not give a man fish for hunger, but teach him how to fish"
We work with the developmental concept of "Do not give a man fish for hunger, but teach him how to fish", whereby we aim to get rid of the dependency syndrome, from its root.
We have a vision, mission and objectives that reflect this - go to the About EFEE page to read them. We work with partners on various projects. This also provides networking opportunities for our members. To support our work by making a donation or volunteering, please contact us.
Our major programmes are:
- Health - HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health
- Education for visually impaired people
- Income Generation Activities at our ICT Services center in Sidist Kilo, Addis Ababa
- Promotion of the use of ICT for people with disabilities
